Bespoke Wood Conservatories Cardiff | Free Quote Local Company Cardiff Laying the foundations for your conservatories – both literally and metaphorically: In order to build wood conservatories Cardiff, laying foundations is important. To proceed with your conservatory, you must outline the perimeter of your block wall on the garden soil. A centreline can be drawn in paint through the extent of your foundation. This can very easily be done if the conservatories are placed on the grass of a back garden’s lawn. You use the painted line as your guide for estimation purposes and you should end up with a foundation that is three times the width of your cavity wall. This is the width of your foundation. Your foundation should also be one third the depth of width of the foundation. This is usually no more than a foot. Make sure that the trench of your foundation is reasonably square, straight and vertical on all sides. Then you determine a level for the finish of your foundation which is calculated from your finished floor height. When the foundation has set, you may commence building up to damp course level. You excavate the excess top soil within the new building’s boundary. Then you lay in a small aggregate of stone which needs to be well compacted to a certain level. When this hard core is compacted sufficiently using tools, you bind over the surface with approximately fifty mm of sand. Your hard core in total will be approximately 150 mm. You compact this surface. This is the bed on which you lay your damp proof course membrane. Then you lay in fifty mm of floor insulation. This should leave you with a concrete floor finish of 150 mm – 100 mm of which is higher than the damp proof course. The concrete can be finished with a trowel to be left flat and level to take your new floor finishes. The height determinations of all these applications are dictated by the finish concrete level in your foundation and your existing finish floor level. It will have been decided in advance the different calculations for hard core, floor insulation and your concrete floor in readiness to take your floor tiles or whatever flooring you are installing – such as solid wood. Ceramic, marble or solid wood flooring all make great and beautiful floors for any conservatories Cardiff. 16 June 2011. |
